Salton Sea
This is where I live
sort of
seen from outer space
I’m on the border with Mexico
That’s the diagonal line, lower left
What would cause someone like me to live here?
Good question—
How far away could I get from everything?
Nothing but deep blue sky
piercing through
like jets crossing the universe
like Lieutenant Yeager
out for a joy ride
with a West Virginia accent
Immortalized
Why do I live here?
It looked good at the time
and still does—

I’m home now
My darkness is all inside
I like it here
looking across the Salton Sea
It shakes nightly
It quakes all day
My city rocks at night
Once there was a 7.5
I slept last night through a 4.8.
